For the most part the Battle of Athens is an interesting part of our history, and a part that is deliberately overlooked by textbooks and the media. Kerodin makes some good points and asks some pointed questions but I would add this: Is it more likely in rural America than in the urban squalor we call cities? I would venture a hearty yes. And I would go further to say if you live in a rural area or county you’ve probably got some politicos at the county level just like those guys. I know the “dem” controlled county government where I’m at is a crooked as an Iraqi schoolgirls smile.
